Hi, I am Murphy. I am a 5lb yorkie. I am about 7 or 8 yrs old. But don’t let my age scare you. I am still active. I am missing a few teeth. But I can still eat very good. I am a very sweet boy. Come visit me.

If you would like directions, want to see our adoption fees or process, please go to our website, www.animalrescueinc.org. Animal Rescue, Inc is open for the public to come and see our animals:
Saturday, Sunday 1:00 To 4:00
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1:00 to 3:00
Our adoption process takes approximately 5 to 10 business days. We appreciate your help and patience during the process. If you have young children, please take the following suggestion into thought. First and foremost, we are a shelter for life. Therefore, most of our residents are not in enclosed areas. They run freely and will greet you at the gate. For this reason, we ask that you don’t bring children under 6 years of age to walk around in the dog areas. This can be overwhelming and/or frightening for a young person to be surrounded by so many dogs. We prefer that adopting a dog is a pleasant experience for everyone. We would like the children to meet the dog as a one on one meeting after an initial selection. If this is not possible, we recommend that a second adult be available to stay with the children while the adoptors tour the rescue

Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie

Size: Small
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
ID: gg
Hi, my name’s Lil. I’m a 6 lb., 3 year old Yorkie girl who was found dragging a piece of a chain. Hard to imagine that anyone would tie me up outside, but sadly a lot of people think this is ok. Dogs know this isn’t ok & we don’t like it at all. I’m a most precious little baby in search of a warm lap to settle into. I adore being held & fussed over. I’m friendly & oh-so sweet. I’m great with people, but young children make me nervous. I’m healthy, spayed, vaccinated & have been tested for heartworms. If you’re home is lacking canine cuteness

Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie Mix

Size: Small
Age: Young
Gender: Male
ID:

Notes: Barney is a 20 pound terrier mix (possibly a Yorkie and something with a curly coat). Barney is a lovable little guy who loves to play with toys, people, and other pets. In a group, Barney will usually select his best buddy to play with. He is a young, energetic little guy who has lots of energy to expend. Barney will need to have a fenced yard because of his activity level. Barney would do best in a home where he would not be left alone for a full 8 hour workday. He would make a great little companion for someone who wants a little dog to take with them on outings, or even just going to and from the store. Companionship with his person makes Barney a happy camper. To apply for Barney, request an application from “khanwai@aol.com”. Once completed, return it via email to the same email address. If you have any questions, you may call his foster mom , Terri, at 301-932-5141. If no answer, leave a message and she will return your call.

yorkie: lilo and stitch

May 19, 2007

Meet Lilo and Stitch – our newest little bundles of joy. Lilo and Stitch came to us from a rural shelter when their time was up. They are about 10 lbs. each and as cute as can be. Lilo is the light colored yorki/dachsund mix and is very social, outgoing, happy go lucky and loves to give kisses. Lilo can be adopted to the right family with gentle kids no younger than 8 years old. She’s tiny so we’d rather not have her playing with very young children as she’s fragile and can get hurt if little kids are not careful. She would do very well with another energetic small dog as she loves to play with other dogs. Stitch is a little more shy at first but becomes your best friend after about 5 minutes and is very much a lap dog. She loves to be carried everywhere. Stitch is the type of dog for someone who is looking for a baby to love. She’s a cuddler and gets a lot of reassurance by being carried around and being with her person. She’s perfectly adorable and steals your heart. We are looking for a home with no children for Stitch. She really is the kind of dog that needs undivided attention by someone who has the time to devote to her in that way and enjoys the companionship of a dog. She is a great dog for someone with more of a home schedule as we’d prefer she not be alone for long stretches of time. We can only consider applications in MD, DC, Northern VA area. We cannot consider homes with children under the age of 12 for this dynamic duo. They really are best suited for an adult only household looking for two little ones to spoil.

The adoption fee for this dog is $175.00 for each dog that is applied toward their vetting expenses.
